DRIL Participates in the 55th National Safety Day Campaign – Strengthening Safety Culture in Ropeway Operations

Safety is the backbone of any infrastructure system, especially in passenger transport services such as ropeways where operational precision and passenger trust are paramount. Reinforcing this commitment, Damodar Ropeways & Infra Limited (DRIL) proudly participated in the 55th National Safety Day / National Safety Month campaign led by the National Safety Council of India.

Observed across the country every year from 4th March, the National Safety Day campaign commemorates the foundation of the council and promotes awareness on Occupational Safety and Health (OSH) across industries, institutions, and public organizations. The campaign has evolved into a nationwide movement encouraging organizations to strengthen workplace safety culture and implement robust safety management systems.

Theme for 2026: Engage, Educate & Empower People to Enhance Safety

The theme for the 55th National Safety Day / National Safety Month (2026) is “Engage, Educate & Empower People to Enhance Safety.” This theme highlights the importance of building a proactive safety culture by involving employees at all levels, providing continuous safety education, and empowering individuals to take responsibility for workplace safety.

For infrastructure operators such as ropeways, these principles are critical. Safety is not limited to technology or systems alone; it depends on trained personnel, operational discipline, preventive maintenance, and constant monitoring of safety protocols.

DRIL’s Commitment to Ropeway Safety

Demonstrating its unwavering dedication to passenger and operational safety, DRIL has achieved a significant milestone by receiving safety certification from the National Safety Council for its ropeway operations.

  • Neemach Mata Ropeway, Udaipur – Certified in 2025
  • Hanuman Dhara Ropeway, Chitrakoot – Certified in 2026

These recognitions mark a historic achievement as DRIL became the first & only ropeway company to receive National Safety Council recognition for safety compliance and operational standards.

The certification acknowledges DRIL’s implementation of structured safety frameworks including:

  • Standardized operating procedures for ropeway operations
  • Regular inspection and preventive maintenance of ropeway systems
  • Safety training programs for operational staff
  • Passenger safety awareness and monitoring systems
  • Emergency preparedness and response protocols

Building a Safety-First Ropeway Ecosystem

Ropeways are increasingly becoming an important mode of sustainable mobility and tourism infrastructure in India. As passenger volumes grow, maintaining the highest standards of operational safety becomes even more critical.

At DRIL, safety is integrated into every stage of operations—from engineering design and system monitoring to staff training and passenger handling. Participation in national initiatives such as the National Safety Day campaign reflects DRIL’s broader mission to contribute to a safe, reliable, and future-ready ropeway ecosystem in India.

A Step Forward for the Ropeway Industry

Receiving safety recognition for two ropeway projects in consecutive years reflects DRIL’s commitment to raising safety benchmarks in the ropeway sector. It also demonstrates how ropeway infrastructure can operate with global safety standards while ensuring smooth and secure passenger experiences.

As the industry expands, DRIL continues to champion a culture of safety, accountability, and continuous improvement, aligning with the vision of the National Safety Council to make workplaces and public infrastructure safer across the country.

Moving Forward

Participation in the 55th National Safety Day campaign is not just a symbolic gesture—it is a reaffirmation of DRIL’s commitment to protect lives, enhance operational excellence, and promote safety awareness across its ropeway projects.

By engaging teams, educating stakeholders, and empowering individuals, DRIL aims to continue setting new standards in ropeway safety, reliability, and responsible infrastructure development.
